Three Killed in Boulder Air Crash

Three people were killed Saturday when two small planes collided midair north of Boulder, Colo. See http://www.denverpost.com/ci_14350792

There were three survivors who were in a glider being towed by one of the planes. The glider’s pilot was able to detach the glider from the plane and fly through fireball to land.

That pilot, Reuben Baker, landed at Boulder Municipal Airport some three miles away from the crash site. His two passengers were a mother and her 11-year-old son.

Wreckage from the two planes was scattered over a mile area.

The collision involved a single-seat Piper Pawnee, which was towing the Schweitzer 2-32 glider. A four-seater Cirrus SR20 hit the Piper in the air.
