The train was loaded with hundreds of passengers looking to get away for a holiday weekend — Bastile Day on Sunday — when it crashed into a station at Bretigny-sur-Orge at rush hour Friday, 5:15 p.m. Dozens of passengers were hurt, USA Today reported in the trail derailment.
Two train cars initially derailed, causing the ones behind them to do the same. The train had 385 passengers making the three-hour ride to Limoges, according to USA Today.
In the meantime, the death rate in the first train derailment to make headlines this week has risen to 28, according to Fox News. Four bodies were pulled out of what remains of the devastated Canadian town of Lac-Megantic Friday, and the remaining 22 people who are missing are presumed dead.
