Canada Bus Beheading: Interim psychiatrist report completed
TORONTO (AP) _ The lawyer for a man accused of beheading and cannibalizing a fellow bus passenger says an interim report that examines whether the accused is fit to stand trial has been completed.
A judge had ordered Vince Weiguang Li to undergo a psychiatric evaluation in August to determine whether the Chinese immigrant was competent to stand trial for the July killing of 22-year-old carnival worker Tim McLean.
Defense lawyer Alan Libman says he’s seen the report but declined to comment ahead of a court appearance on Monday.
Li, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the slaying, has not entered a plea in the case.
